Introduction
Hello everyone, coming once again with a big milestone, we're happy to announce that the HEAT Labs Desktop App has officially been approved for release on Steam and can now be wishlisted.
This marks a major step forward in our journey, and with this approval, we want to share how the next few months of Steam-focused development will look.
Beta Test & Pre-Release Key Retirement
To everyone who helped during the private testing and pre-release phases:
- All keys issued during testing and pre-release will be revoked, this includes Demo keys and Playtest keys as well as Release keys
- You may receive a Steam notification saying your key was revoked, this is expected
- This change allows us to centralize access entirely through Steam
These keys were used to test the app much earlier than normally possible. Now that HEAT Labs has an approved, active Steam release, this approach is no longer needed.
Closed Playtesting Becomes More Active
With the Steam approval in place, closed playtesting will ramp up.
- The HEAT Labs Playtest branch will track our development version
- This branch is used to test extremely early builds and experimental features
- Issues, bugs, and incomplete functionality are expected
- Allows early testing of new features with select community members
- Helps us validate changes before wider rollout
Playtest access will be handled directly through Steam, using the Request Access button on the main HEAT Labs Store page.
This approval is a huge milestone for HEAT Labs, and we couldn't have reached it without our testers, contributors, and community members who helped shape the app behind the scenes.
More updates soon, we're just getting started!
