Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths and weaknesses based on community feedback

Strengths

Exceptional Survivability

Heavy armour, ERA, shields, and a placable barrier combine to make the FV4030 one of the toughest tanks to remove from a position. This tank has staying power above all others of its class. Keep your front head on and enemies will be hard pressed to move you quickly.

Objective Control

The FV4030 excels at locking down capture points and defensive positions, forcing enemies to commit significant resources to dislodge it. Players should seek to find an advantagous position on approaches to objectives to distrupt and control enemy pushes. Players who stick with the HE shell will find they can stall an entire push with ease.

Strong Crowd Control

The FV4030's HE rounds may look like the worst choice at first glance. But can be effective at damaging tracks and limiting enemy mobility. HE equipped FV4030's will be able to keep an enemy stationary, applying track repair debuffs and being able to apply consistant damage. Working as part of a team this makes the FV4030 an orchestrator of any fight.

Forgiving Playstyle

The FV4030 can be a friendly tank to newcomers. Its durability allows it to absorb mistakes that would prove costly in lighter vehicles. Players will find the ERA useful when caught unaware as the tile will eat the first shot, resulting in zero incoming damage.

Alternative build potential

The FV4030 can sport several builds, from entrenching further into its defensive abilities, such as being able to provide passive healing, or switching it up to an offensive build, trading the HE for a powerful AP round with a faster reload. Whatever your playstyle, you will likely find a build to suit you.

Weaknesses

Low Overall Mobility

One of your greatest weaknesses in the FV4030 will be your ability to react. All your armour comes at a price, and that price is movement. The tank is slow, the traverse is slow. If you're caught out, or pushed into a bad position you will not be able to turn and run.

Reliant on Defensive Systems

A lot of the FV4030's staying power comes from its passive ERA and shields, alongside its placable Bastion ability. However, these are limited. The longer the engagement lasts and the more fire you take will ultimately lead to you being stripped of much of your survivability, leaving you weaker when you possibly need it most.

Limited Offensive Potential

Whilst strong, most of your time in the FV4030 will be spent going from point to point or supporting teammates. Unlike an attacker or a more nimble defender this FV4030 will rarely be able to strike out on its own. Your power comes from your teams support and their survivability comes from you.

Game mode dependant

The FV4030 is absolutely at home on Control or Hardpoint and it is one of the strongest tanks you can take. Although should you find yourself in a kill confirmed gamemode or a larger conquest map you will struggle to stay relevent due to your limited ability to chase the map and the fight.

Large Target

The FV4030 is a large tank even in it's class. And whilst it has fewer weakspots than others they are substantial and obvious, such as the TOGS sight on the right side of your turret. Should you run into an experienced player you will find your toolkit nullified and you will be hard pressed to mitigate the weakness.

Tank Summary

A powerful 'Defender-class' tank which specialises in holding ground and controlling key areas of the battlefield. Slow, heavily armoured, and exceptionally resilient, the FV4030 excels at anchoring a team's defensive line and can effectively lock down an objective when positioned correctly.

Its survivability is enhanced by heavy ERA protection, deployable shields, and a passive self-repair capability (with the appropriate modules) means it can stand in an engagement for long periods of time. The FV4030's HE-focused firepower is also particularly effective at tracking opponents, while its jamming systems suppress enemy abilities for those that get too close.

However, this durability comes at the cost of mobility. The FV4030 is one of the slower tanks on the battlefield and can struggle to reposition or respond to threats across the map and whilst its ERA provides substantial protection, Once lost it significantly reduces its survivability leaving it far more vulnerable incoming fire.
