Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths and weaknesses based on community feedback

Strengths

Consistent Firepower

The Bradley features a consistent autocannon, Firing APHE and capable of scoring damage even on a non penerating hit as well as building up status effects for fire. Players will find it a favourable weapon in most engagements.

Good DPM

The damage per minute of the M3A1 Braldey is one of the highest in HEAT. It's autocannon, ATGM and subsequent fire damage all contribute to give the Bradley one of the highest DPM values in HEAT.

High Mobility

Whilst the Bradleys raw top speed isn't going to win any medals, this vehicle is nimble. Featuring good traverse of the hull and turret plus the highest reverse speed in the game, coupled with quick acceleration. Bradley players will find moving around the battlefield easy.

Guided Missiles

The Bradley's firepower is heavily added to by its ATGM ability. Providing two powerful and guided missiles these are capable of devestating damage which can be further augmented by vehicle modules. These can be used as both an opener and a finisher in combat.

Sacraficial Armour

The M3A1 features a heavy coating of ERA and shields on the front and the sides which will significantly reduce or mitigate incoming damage when hit, whilst they last. As a result, if you're caught side on and the enemy shot isn't well placed, you may get away scot free from the engagement.

Weaknesses

Low Penetration

Whilst not the biggest drawback thanks to its ammunition choice, the M3A1's peneration is low. Depending on the type of target this may make it difficult to fully utilise the autocannon to score critical damage. Players may also find getting into position against an aware opponent difficult.

Sacrafical Armour

A positive and a negative. The M3A1's armour beneath the shields and ERA is token at best. Knowing commanders may take advantage of this, especially if in a tank capable of explosive munitions like trapping shot or XM1V Rockets. Once gone, almost all incoming fire can and will hurt you.

Sustained Combat Power

The longer an engagement goes on, the less effective the M3A1 becomes. As you burn through your energy, shields and even your autocannon's heat meter the Bradley loses a lot of its potency. As a result players may find themselves having to leave combat to pick themselves back up or be sent back to spawn when their toolkit expires mid fight.

High Skill Floor

The M3A1 can be very difficult to play and has a higher skill floor than most others of it's class. As a result it can be tough to get the most out of this vehicle, especially if you want to make an impact on or around an objective. The M3A1 can be very team dependent tank and may struggle to carry on its own.

Easy Weakspots

A Bradley without its ERA and shields is going to almost always take a critical hit when shot due to its large internal modules. However, Even a fully kitted and shielded Bradley may find their ammo rack consistently hit, especially by players who know the vehicle as this is protected by no more than the thin turret armour and can be hit from all angles.

My biggest tip is to run the small repair kit to allow you to recover shields more frequently, this lets you be more aggressive. Also prioritise fuel tank hits to high health targets and try to avoid vehicles such as the XM1-90.

Tank Summary

The M3A1 Bradley is an aggressive attacker that thrives in close to intermediate-range engagements. Equipped with a substantial amount of sacrificial armour, it can absorb punishment that would otherwise cripple more lightly protected vehicles while supporting allies with a relentless stream of fire. Its autocannon ammunition is particularly effective at applying status effects and reducing enemy resistance to them, allowing the Bradley to steadily wear down opponents while creating opportunities for its team.

At its best, the M3A1 operates as a flanker and support vehicle, using its excellent mobility, tight turning circle, and high damage-per-minute output to exploit enemy weaknesses. Fuel tank hits can quickly ignite opponents. When opportunities for flanking are unavailable, its ATGMs provide valuable long-range firepower, allowing it to remain a threat across the battlefield. The Bradley is especially effective when working alongside friendly vehicles, enabling it to focus on applying pressure and finishing off distracted enemies.

Despite its strengths, the M3A1's survivability is heavily dependent on preserving its armour and avoiding prolonged exposure. Once its sacrificial armour has been stripped away, it becomes significantly more vulnerable, particularly in sustained engagements. Its exposed ammunition storage and relatively light protection make high-explosive weaponry especially dangerous threats. Success in the Bradley often comes down to maintaining mobility, choosing engagements carefully, and leveraging its powerful support capabilities before the enemy can focus their fire on it.
